Buffalo will be coming to Salina again.  12-2-2023

 Hope to see you at Salina Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission for our 34th Annual Fall Buffalo Auction on December 2nd. The sale barn is located at 1500 Old U.S. 40, Salina, KS.

Prices continue to edge higher as the season goes along.  We have final numbers now. 108 bull calves, 106 heifer calves, 76 yearling bulls, 81 yearling heifers. 4- 2 yr bulls, and a handful of 2 yr heifers.   15 bred cows and 7 open cows wind it up.  

For you internet buyers looking at consignment size: 

Bull calf consignments have several 12 and 13 head in a group, several 7 to 9 head groups, and the rest are 1 to 6 head in a group.

Heifer calf consignments show several 17 head groups, several 6 to 9 head groups, and the rest are 1 to 5 head.

Yearling heifer consignments show a 13 and a 22 head grouping, the rest are 1 to 6 head.

Yearling bull consignments show several 10 to 16 head, a couple of 6 and 9 head, and the rest are 1 to 3 head in a group.

Buyers need to bring a letter of credit as the Sale barn handles payments. For credit questions contact the sale barn at 785-825-0211. For all other questions contact Dick Gehring at 620-345-6526.

  • Unloading begins at noon Friday, Dec. 1st
  • Join us for a buyers' reception from 7:00pm. to 10 p.m. Friday, in the Farmers & Ranchers Cafe right at the stockyards.
  • Animals must be unloaded by 8 p.m. Friday to be judged in the Show for Best of Class.
  • Awards, announcements, and scholarships start at 10:00 a.m. Saturday
  • The auction begins at 11 a.m. Saturday

If you are planning to bid on animals by internet, you will need to go on to www.cattleusa.com and register. If you are new to this website, you will need to create a user name and password. Then, scroll through all of the sale barns until you get to Farmers and Ranchers Salina, then apply to bid.

You will then need to contact Farmers and Ranchers at 785-825-0211, to get pre-approved to purchase animals.

Directions: I-135, Exit 93. The sale barn is on West Old Hwy 40 on the west edge of Salina. This indoor complex has seating for 400 people.
